A Message From Mrs. Lucius
Hi! I’m Jen Lucius and I am the general music teacher here at Franconia Elementary. Since I started teaching at Franconia back in 2018, I have built an amazing music program teaching students how to play multiple instruments, read music, learn terminology and theory, and dive into the history of composers, cultural influences, and major works of music. Aside from teaching kindergarten through sixth grade, I also feature various performing groups throughout the year. These include All County Chorus (auditioned 6th graders who learn/perform 10 songs with other students from around the county), Area Chorus (group of sixth graders who rehearse/perform with Twain Middle School), Chorus (open to any interested fifth and sixth grader who perform three concerts throughout the year), adorable K-1 mini musicals involving every student in that grade (such as Lemonade and Go Fish), and a large scale musical involving auditioned 4th, 5th and 6th graders such as The Music Man Kids, The Lion King Kids, and Beauty and the Beast Jr.
About Me
I have been performing on stage since I was 5 years old as a dancer and as a music theater performer. I was fortunate enough to sing on a recording that was featured in the opening of the Macy’s Day Parade back in 1998. After graduating from Shenandoah Conservatory in 1999 with a major in Music Education and an endorsement in Musical Theater, I fulfilled my dream and performed on stage for several years at Walt Disney World where I was a dancer, actor, and puppeteer. The next chapter of my life led me to live out another life-long dream: to be a music teacher! I was lucky enough to be a full-time music teacher at Kings Park Elementary where I taught music K-3 students for 6 years. After the birth of my first baby, I took a break from teaching to accomplish my next dream job: being a full time stay-at-home-mom. 10 years later, I joined the Franconia team and I have fallen in love with this community and its children!
