Background: The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) is a federal grant which requires that spending be used in specific areas. Part of the Fairfax County Public Schools spending plan identifies funding to be used for Unfinished Learning and Student Academic and Social, Emotional, Mental Health (Wellness) Needs. Schools have been given funding allocations to support the academic and wellness needs of students. Schools are required to create plans in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Wellness highlighting the strategies they will use to support these areas using their ESSER III funding. These strategies are shown below.

Strategy 1 - Students will participate in consistent whole group and small group systematic skills-based reading instruction focused on Word Study. |
Strategy 2 - Utilize Lexia program daily in every classroom to support students in prescribed usage, teacher small group instruction focii, and specific resources to solidify skills student to student. |
Strategy 3 - Utilize CLT time/PD opportunties to engage teachers in learning opportunities around word study instruction. |

Strategy 1 - Tier 1 Instruction - Implement consistent structures of Math Workshop in grades K-6 |
Strategy 2 - Utilize chosen professional texts to drive the implementation of the "workshop model" to build content knowledge. |
Strategy 3 - Utilize CLTs to support teachers in building content around thinking from stating-a-standard or target toward communication expectations for learning. |

Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment. |
