Dear Franconia Elementary School Staff, Parents and Community:

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Andrew Smith has been appointed as principal of Franconia Elementary School, effective August 7, 2018.  Mr. Smith has over 15 years of experience as an educator.  He has served Franconia ES as an assistant principal since 2015.  Before Franconia, Mr. Smith was an assistant principal at Hayfield Elementary School.  In addition, he was a special education teacher at Braddock ES where he also served as the special education chair.

Mr. Smith earned a Master of Education, New Professional Studies in Teaching and a Master of Education, Educational Leadership; both from George Mason University.  He has his Administration and Supervision certification for PreK-12.

Mr. Smith feels a very strong bond with the Franconia family and he is looking forward to continuing to serve the amazing students, staff and community. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Smith as the principal of Franconia Elementary School.
